Made by Megan

A one-woman studio making embroidered clothing, hand-pieced quilted bags and small accessories, one piece at a time.

An embroidery machine stitching indigo thread in a sunlit studio

Made by Megan is a small, independent studio selling handmade textiles: machine-embroidered apparel — overshirts and crewnecks, each finished with a unique design you will not find anywhere else — quilted weekender bags and totes whose panels are pieced by hand, and a rotating collection of smaller accessories — pouches, book sleeves and box bags. Every listing on this site is a real, finished object photographed in the room where it was made, with the materials noted and the hours spent at the needle written into the description.

The shop is for people who would rather own one considered thing than five forgettable ones — a stitched sweatshirt to complete your cozy outfit, a weekender that survives a decade of trains, or a small gift with a maker's name attached to it. Because each piece is cut and stitched individually, batch sizes are tiny and colours rarely repeat. A few favourite designs do come back for a restock, but most pieces are one of a kind — once they sell out, they are gone rather than coming around again.

Everything is designed, cut, pieced, quilted and sewn by Megan in a single studio in West Virginia, with cotton and linen cloth, polyester thread matched by eye, cotton batting, and tear-away stabiliser. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is mass produced. The business began with a box of free fabric and a wish for something that stood out from the big box stores, and it has grown into a full collection of one-off pieces, listed as they are finished.
